Seagulls dive bomb Brighton pier in the U.K

Trying out a new lens Yesterday a Tokina 11-16mm f2.8 and I must say it gets my full approval. Popped down to Brighton beach with it famous piers and enjoyed our continental Weather (for a change!)
This lens is simply awesome.
Very Sharp and well worth the money.
Apparently it out performs many own make lenses in tests and Im certainly not complaining based on my experience.

Snap Gotcha! and Farewell Kodachrome.

Well Hi there and Welcome to my new blog.
My intention is to post a few comments and images from my travels including observations, photography chatter and appreciation of the ever changing world.
I have recently started an image gallery at www.wabisabipix.com which I will be updating regularly so feel free to pop in and take a look around if only to share in a bit of the enjoyment I had taking the pictures.
I am UK based in London where I Work in the field of News Photography and cover whatever is making the news day to day but I also just like snapping and generally just chasing the light and that is what this is all about.
I use a variety of equipment to achieve my purpose and whatever does the job best is the favourite of the day. My Gear ranges from Nikon Digital Slr and compact cameras to Leica M6 film bodies and my general preference depends on the circumstances, usually film for personal stuff and digital for work.
I suspect and hope there will be a resurrection in interest in film cameras when those brought up on digital realise and wonder about the pleasure to be had from the arcane art of traditional photography and appreciate the almost magical pleasure of seeing images appear in a developer. Its not instant but its rewarding and wont die and become obselete when your hard drive or computer croaks and if you shoot only digital and dont back up all the time it certainly will.
Sometimes those dusty packages containing prints that you took on film all those years ago and have just rediscovered are really priceless and lets face it who backs up everything all the time!
Im a great believer that photography is our only true way to stop time and remember and it really is the one of the best ways to┬ástop and “smell the roses”. Enjoy.
Farewell Kodachrome and see you again soon I hope!
